Review highlights
Based on 530 reviewsRestaurante Varanda Do Criz is widely recognized for its traditional Portuguese cuisine, featuring standout dishes such as chanfana, oven-roasted veal, and generous portions of rice and potatoes. Customers frequently praise the exceptional quality and rich flavors of the food, often emphasizing the satisfying and authentic dining experience. While the restaurant is noted for its attentive and friendly service, some reviewers mention that the ambiance could benefit from updates, as the décor and exterior show signs of wear. Despite this, many feel the culinary excellence justifies the price. The spacious venue is also appreciated, with potential suitability for large gatherings and events.
Very good, I was always well served. They also make good chanfana. Photos: Octopus albardado with rice. …
The best oven-roasted veal, the best rice, the best oven-roasted potatoes, the best chanfana. What more can I say? Try it and you'll definitely come back.
It is a somewhat expensive restaurant, considering the atmosphere. The exterior needs some maintenance and the interior is showing some wear and tear over the years. However, after the meal we realized that the quality and flavor of the food were exceptional. Therefore, we felt it was well worth it. The space is huge. I believe it can seat well over 200 people. They will probably cater for weddings and baptisms.
Traditional Portuguese cooking. Big portions and great service.
As a stroll I found this wonderful place with excellent food, exceptional service and a welcoming and pleasant atmosphereTo revisit....
The food was great and not pricy at all. All around good service and the waiting time was basically none. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a a typical place to have lunch or dinner.
Good place to eat around Tondela/Campo de Besteiros - not expensive but also not cheap either.
Very good. Well prepared food. Fast service. I liked it. I recommend it.
